Most people learn these stuff the hard way(as I am doing now)

Please don’t use the words ‘harddisk’ and ‘crash’ in the same sentence - it gives me nightmares ;-)
Anyway, I have 3 computers. One is busted - but 2 are in working condition. 1 belongs to my brother but is available in case of an emergency.

2. Some solid power backup. I know it is costly. But in Kerala, there is no way around.

Hmm… I have an inverter - but it is not hooked up the the computer.

3. 2 broadband lines. For example, get Asianet line for Rs.199 and BSNL line for Rs. 500.

I have a Tata broadband connection - and Reliance Land line. In emergency, I can use reliance to connect to the net. Sure, its dial up - but enough for emergencies.
